Public Housing
Professor Lawrence J.Vale

School of Architecture and Planning
Professor Vale provides an historical overview of the government's
role in public housing and attitudes about the nature of public
assistance.
The MIT Alumni Association's annual Technology Day took on ethical
issues as they related to current research at MIT. Lectures from
faculty at five MIT Schools were presented at the 2003 event covering
topics such as public housing, political advertising, stem cell
research, global economics and nanotechnology and the soldier of the
future. This is the first of the five lectures, look for the
remaining ones to be presented on MIT World this summer. Check out

Human Rights & the US State Department
John Shattuck
Former US Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights
Ambassador Shattuck provides insights from his experiences as
Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights in the Clinton
Administration. Topics include the war in Iraq, the underlying causes
of terrorism, and how September 11th "changed the way diplomatic
business is now done."
This is the second event on MIT World from The Western Hemisphere
Project's Spring 2003 Colloquium on Human Rights. See the Human
