[mitreid-connect] SMART on FHIR sandbox, MitreID, and SSO

I've posted this question to the SMART on FHIR list but maybe you are more familiar with the details. Their sandbox (https://fhir.smarthealthit.org/#/ui/select-patient), which uses MitreID for the OpenId Connect stack, has SSO even across applications that use different browsers for the Authorization Code flow. Do you know how that was done?
