Baha'is believe that all the major religions derive from one Source, and that Baha'u'llah is the latest Messenger of God. Teachings of Baha'u'llah promote the elimination of prejudice, the equality of women and men, the agreement of science and religion, and additional guidance that can cure humanity's ills. A question and answer session about the Baha'i Faith is planned to begin at 7:00 pm Saturday, September 2. All questions are welcome, and refreshments are to be served. I think I mentioned to some of you that there was going to be a Movies That Matter this Saturday night at SidPac. We've decided to team up with BU to do joint Movies That Matter, so the one this Saturday is canceled. We'll send out another email once we figure out when and where the new Movies that Matter will be. Part of the reason we're cancelling for this Saturday is also that it's Arts Night at the Boston Baha'i Center. There's going to be paintings by Rashin Fahandejsaadi and a hip hop performance by Badi - more information online at ***www.dissonanceresolved.com/artsnight.html*. I've heard that Arts Night is really fun. If anyone else wants to go, I'd like to go, so send me an email and we could go over together. The Seminar Room in Sidney Pacific is the venue, and the film is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm. "Sarafina" will likely be shown, and a description is below. Friends are welcome to come, and snacks are planned to be provided Movies that Matter Sidney Pacific Seminar Room (map link below) 6:30 pm, Saturday, September 23 http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=70+Pacific+Street,+Cambridge+MA+02139&ie=UTF8&z=15&om=1&iwloc=A After entering Sidney Pacific, enter the doors to the right to the north division of the building. Follow the hallway to a second set of doors; enter and turn left to find the Seminar Room. Call David at 617 413 0845 for help entering. "'Sarafina' is a powerful and moving film about the struggle of South African school kids for survival and freedom against apartheid. It is a story of determination, perseverance and courage against tremendous odds. It teaches us that good will always triumph against evil: that the oppressed will always fight back and die to regain their freedom and dignity. The viewer will have a picture of what life was like under apartheid, ranging from school life, living conditions for blacks, the prisons and the brutal police. I particularly love the beautiful South African music with its rich and outstanding vocals, percussion, horns and the like. You will love the sounds of veterans musicians like Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba. David
