Dear Activists,

I am sure many of you have heard about two detained American journalists in
North Korea, Laura Ling and Euna Lee. They are accused of "hostile acts",
spying and illegally crossing the border in N.Korea and were arrested in
March and still remain in custody. Analysists claim that the reason behind
this detainment is to use the U.S. reprters as pawn in nuclear standoff
negotiations. Whether that's true or not, these reporters are facing unfair
accusations and deserve the right to return home.

Their trial is June 4th and if found guilty, they will be sentenced to 5-10
years of imprisonment.

Tonight, her family will be on Larry King Show at 9PM(EST) to share their
story. More press coverage is followed on Nightline tonight and Anderson
Cooper in early June. If you want to learn more about the issue, please tune
in to watch these shows.

More info:
Ms. Ling and Ms. Lee, their cameraman Mitch Koss and their Korean Chinese
guide had entered China to interview North Korean defectors living along the
PRC-DPRK border near the Tumen River. According to JoongAng Ilbo, a Seoul
based newspaper, they were detained by North Korean border guards on March
17 as they were walking along the shallow Tumen River into North Korea.
Although Koss and the Korean Chinese guide were able to escape captured by
the North Korean, Koss was detained by Chinese Border guards, and released.

North Korea has stated “they’re suspected of hostile acts”, and has charged
them with spying and illegally crossing the border. Their trial date is set
for June 4. If found guilty, they could be served a sentence of five to ten
years in prison.
