A talk by Ryan Bodanyi, a national leader in the Campaign for Justice in
Bhopal.
Tuesday, September 4 at 6pm in 4-231
(http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?mapterms=4-231&mapsearch=go).
After midnight in December 1984, a badly designed chemical plant leaked
more than 27 tons of toxic methyl isocyanate gas into the sleeping city
of Bhopal, India - killing over 7,000 people within a few days. Despite
a long term death toll exceeding 22,000, Dow Chemical and its current
subsidiary Union Carbide refuse to clean up the site or appear in Indian
courts to face criminal charges. Passionate advocate Ryan Bodanyi is
making a rare trip to Boston to share his experiences in India and the
US working with the survivors of the world's worst chemical disaster.
Bodanyi began his advocacy for the survivors in college and has
committed the past 5 years to building a grassroots movement in the
United States to win a clean up, medical care and justice alongside the
1984 disaster survivors.
Samosas will be served.
