for International Studies
and the BBC World Service Trust.

____________

Though many of us would like to think of slavery as a practice of the past,
the unfortunate reality is that millions of people are still victims of
forced labor, enforced prostitution and human trafficking. Despite the
seriousness of this problem, it is the focus of insufficient public policy
and media attention.

This event is designed to shine increase awareness about forced labor in
the global economy, and will occur shortly after the release of a major
report on the topic by the International Labor Organization.

The event will feature the taping of panel discussions by BBC Television's
"The World Debate" and National Public Radio's "On Point" (produced by
WBUR/Boston) and will be held at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology's Kresge Auditorium.

The BBC World Debate, hosted by Zeinab Badawi, is distributed worldwide to
275 million homes. On Point is hosted by Tom Ashbrook, a former deputy
managing editor of the Boston Globe, and is distributed to NPR stations
across the United States.

The panelists will include:

Kevin Bales

Jagdish Bhagwati
University Professor of Economics and Political Science, Columbia University
Author of In Defense of Globalization

Jean-Robert Câdet
