Hi MIT postdocs,

As some of you may be aware, MIT continues to work on improving campus safety. A recent topic is the potential use of AI capabilities in connection with security cameras on campus. You can read more about it here: https://evpt.mit.edu/campus-security-cameras-frequently-asked-questions

Related pieces on this topic from The Tech<https://thetech.com/2026/04/16/ai-surveillance-cameras> and the Faculty Newsletter<https://fnl.mit.edu/how-we-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-campus-surveillance/> to let you better understand the state of matters.

If there are any comments or feedback you would like me to relay to the advisory group on this matter, please let me know within the next week or so. I will make sure to keep your comments anonymous if you wish. Feel free to share with and discuss with your colleagues and relay their feedback if you think it is important.

If you wish to talk off-line, please also let me know.

Thanks,
Yiqiao
