Hello divas,

A reminder to join us TOMORROW NIGHT (21st May) AT 7PM for the long-anticipated postdoc karaoke night! We hope you’ve been warming up your vocal cords.

Important info:

  *   BRING 21+ ID !! US ID or foreign passports only (they hate to see an international driver’s license)
  *   The bar is CASH ONLY (hit up that ATM)
  *   Ashdown house is a student accommodation building - don’t be put off when you arrive, you are at the right place! When you arrive, tell the front desk that you’re looking for the karaoke event at the ‘Thirsty Ear Pub’ and they’ll let you in. The room is just across the yard on your right, but look out for our signs to guide you 😊
  *   Doors open 7pm and we will provide pizza 😲

Don’t be shy! Come and join us (even if it’s just to listen to the angelic voices of your colleagues butchering Celine Dion)

Hello Postdocs,

In these trying times, I know what you’ve probably been wondering: Just how good would the data be if pop icon Adele came to your lab to run an experiment?  Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer to that question, and unless one of our British peers has some serious pull it will likely remain unanswered.  We can however run the reciprocal experiment, and see what happens when a bunch of postdocs try to sing Adele after having a few (very cheap) beers next Thursday at the Thirsty Ear Pub.

This newly renovated on campus pub is run by the same group as The Muddy Charles Pub (have I mentioned the cheap beer?), but we can rent the whole place out so ONLY other postdocs will know just how well your singing voice resembles that of an angel.

Don’t drink? That’s alright; we still want to hear you sing.  Don’t sing? That’s ok, somebody needs to be there to cry when we put Adele to shame.

Capacity is 80, and don’t worry... there will be pizza
