Hello Postdocs,
This information is sent on behalf of MIT’s Science Policy Initiative (SPI). This is a great learning opportunity, and no policy or advocacy experience is necessary.

Best,
Ann

Ever thought/worried about AI policy? Or climate change? Or health policy? Or education? It’s a tumultuous time in politics and in science, and you might catch yourself asking what you can do about it - or how any of it works.

The MIT Science Policy Initiative’s State Visit Day (SVD) is back! On April 23, you will get a chance to talk to people across various branches of state and local government: senators, representatives, agency executives, and more.

It’s more important now than ever to understand all the levers the government has that affect policy. State and local policy has jurisdiction over the allocation of federal funds, science education/workforce development, anything urban planning, and more. Due to the lack of state-level and local engagement, your voice is particularly powerful.

*** Application Deadline: Friday, April 3rd at 11:59PM EST ***

Apply now by filling out this form<https://forms.gle/CJiwcXu9WfbgnGWv7> -- space is limited! The event is open to all MIT undergraduate, graduate students, and post-docs. We're interested in learning more about your research experience(s) or major (or intended major) scientific emphasis as applicable. No policy or advocacy experience is necessary.

Contact SVD chair Anoushka Tamhane at anoutam at mit.edu<mailto:anoutam at mit.edu> with questions or concerns. Decisions will be communicated by April 8th at the latest.

We look forward to reading your applications!

Thanks,
Anoushka
SPI StateVD Chair
