Afternoon postdocs,

We hope you had a great long weekend!

Due to the surprising popularity of the upcoming Postdoc Welcome Back party we’ve now officially reached capacity for this event and are no longer taking any more sign-ups. (Who knew… postdocs DO like to party?)

If you didn’t RSVP for this event on the google form, please do not try and join the event as we won’t be able to let you into the venue (sorry 😩😭). I’ll be sending out a confirmation email to those who registered with further details of the event tomorrow (so if you can’t quite remember if you signed up, keep your eyes peeled for that!)

Thanks all for your interest in this event – we were genuinely impressed with the number of responses (for a Thursday night boogie) and will take this into account for future similar events! If you didn’t get to join us this time, please keep your eyes peeled on your slack and email inboxes for future activities from the PDA

Subject: Postdoc 2026 Welcome back party !
It’s 7pm on a Thursday, your experiment just failed.  As you look around at all of the cleanup you need to do before staggering home defeated, you hear it.

A little voice, deep inside.

“I used to be fun”

The voice says, as you empty your ice bucket, store your samples in the -80 and contemplate the series of choices that led you to this moment.

“What does fun even mean anymore?”

Well fellow postdocs, we have an answer for you.  And that answer comes on a different, happier Thursday at 7pm.

We at the PDA believe that ALL postdocs are fun, all postdocs are cool, and all postdocs sure as heck deserve to live a little.  So, come dance the night* away with the coolest group of ‘not that kind of doctor’s’ this side of the Charles river!

  *   Food: We will provide a selection of cheese/charcuterie (but make sure you eat dinner beforehand pls)
  *   Alcohol: Beer, wine and cider will be available for purchase at the bar (don’t forget your ID!)
  *   Dress code: That sick outfit you bought with your “competitive” postdoc salary but can’t wear to lab for fear of bleach stains?  This seems like the event to bust it out for.  Take a risk, show some style
