Hello all,
Following on from Ann’s email below about the departure of our beloved Alex Yen, the PDA are putting together a leaving e-card which will be sent to her on her last day. If you’ve ever had a meeting with Alex, attended one of her MANY postdoc career events, or simply found yourself smiling because of her wonderfully infectious laugh, we’d love it if you could take the time to write her a message of thanks and goodbye. The card will automatically be sent to Alex’s email at 10am this Friday (her last day), so please make sure you add your message before then!
Link to sign the card here: https://www.groupgreeting.com/sign/4b74adc07e483bd
Best Wishes,
Megan & the PDA Officers

Subject: Career support for postdocs
Dear Postdoctoral Scholars,
I’m writing to let you know that Alexandria Yen, program director of postdoctoral career & professional development, has decided to leave MIT to take up a new opportunity as associate director for Launchpad, a new program for undergraduates at BU. We are excited for Alex as she pursues her next career step. At the same time, her work on behalf of MIT postdocs will be greatly missed. Her last day will be April 17.
In less than two years at MIT, Alex made important contributions to programs and resources in the Office of Career Advising and Professional Development (CAPD)<https://capd.mit.edu/channels/postdocs/>, including Plan Your Postdoc, the Faculty Job Search Series and the Industry Bound Series, among others. We will miss Alex’s energy, knowledge and passion for helping postdocs succeed.
We are exploring options for postdoc career advising during this interim period. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to email me (annskocz at mit.edu<mailto:annskocz at mit.edu>) or the postdoc office (postdocservices at mit.edu<mailto:postdocservices at mit.edu>).
Please join me in thanking Alex for her work at MIT and wishing her well in her new role.
Sincerely,
Ann
