Dear fellow postdocs,
This is a reminder that we still have a few spots open for the Postdoc Night Science Workshop Series Session #2.
This workshop series aims to help postdocs develop skills for the creative scientific process - which is a crucial skill usually left untaught in our training process. This week, we will discuss the Data-Hypothesis Conversation / A hypothesis is a liability – here<https://genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13059-020-02133-w> is a paper to read about it.
If you haven't signed up already and are interested in attending, please register through: https://mit.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a8A36SmH691yh9A
When: January 7th (Tuesday) 3pm-5pm
Where: 32 Vassar Street, MIT Building 32, Room 32-144
Let us know if you have any question. Hope to see you there!

Subject: Postdoc Night Science Boston Workshop Series - Session #2
Dear MIT postdocs,
Happy New Year! Have you wondered how researchers generate ideas, where bursts of inspiration occur, and how projects evolve — a crucial skill that often goes untaught? We are excited to invite you to the second session of the Postdoc Night Science Boston workshop series, hosted by Dr.<https://med.nyu.edu/faculty/itai-yanai> <https://med.nyu.edu/faculty/itai-yanai> Itai Yanai<https://med.nyu.edu/faculty/itai-yanai>. In this upcoming session, we will discuss the Data-Hypothesis Conversation / A hypothesis is a liability – here<https://genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13059-020-02133-w> is a paper to read about it.
Event details:
When: January 7th (Tuesday) 3pm-5pm
Where: 32 Vassar Street, MIT Building 32, Room 32-144 (space is limited!!)
Registration: https://mit.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a8A36SmH691yh9A
** Please register only if you are committed to attending.
Dr. Itai Yanai is a leading expert in computational biology and gene regulation. Itai is also the host of the Night Science<https://www.night-science.org/> podcast, where he explores the creative and often unconventional paths that drive scientific discovery, featuring conversations with researchers who are breaking new ground in their fields. Listen to the Night Science podcast at Spotify<https://open.spotify.com/show/6berzd2rX6rpJQ6CPnbOtI>.
Through the Night Science Boston workshop series, we teach skills crucial for the creative scientific process - identifying new research questions, embracing interdisciplinarity, and fostering collaborative creativity (Yanai & Lercher, 2019, 2020, 2024). We aim to inspire postdoctoral trainees to think beyond the conventional and pursue broad scientific questions, which not only enhances the quality of research but also increases career satisfaction and retention in academia.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Best,
Yiqiao Zheng
