Dear MIT postdocs,
You are invited to an event hosted by the MIT PDA, "Dialogues of Postdoc Life". This event is to foster a direct communication channel between MIT postdocs and MIT administrators. The premise of this dialogue is to shed more light on the various aspects of the postdoc work and life, sharing perspectives from both sides. The ultimate goal is to enhance the postdoc life experience while postdocs pursue their next career goals at MIT.
MIT PDA is an independent organization with a mission to advocate for postdoc rights and benefits as a connection between the postdocs and the administrators. The executive board of the PDA meets the Vice President of Research(VPR) twice a year. At the first meeting in October 2023, the PDA advocated for issues such as housing affordability and MIT housing accessibility, salary increase relative to the inflation, more staff support for postdoc career development, and the financial assurance for the continuity of the Buddy Program.
There are, for sure, more issues that haven't been broached and we would like to invite you to raise them here and provide your perspectives. Questions are collected anonymously and some of them will be selected for discussions during this dialogue. Issues that are commonly shared among postdocs will be brought up during the VPR meetings. More importantly, please join the in-person dialogues with MIT administrators and the PDA. The RSVP link is here<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PODxu2dJSN2M8imBAEDzYnbAVIrF8RsbppM7CVvKiKE/edit>.
