Hi all,
This short leadership course, available through MIT HR, has received very positive reviews from postdocs who have taken it in the past. The next session is open for registration and will take place on March 9. See details of the course below, and see this link<https://atlas.mit.edu/atlas/Main.action?tab=home&sub=group_training&sapSystemId=PS1> to register (navigate to the Learning Center through your Atlas if the link doesn’t work).

Everyday Leadership
Do you have ideas for improving your own job or the work flow in your department? Do you see ways you could get things done more effectively? Do you have ideas for how to increase satisfaction in your workplace?
In traditional models of leadership, these types of changes came down from the top. In today's workplace, leadership can and should come from all levels of the organization. Everyone possesses the capability to develop leadership behaviors. In this class, participants learn how to develop their own leadership skills so they can act as leaders in their everyday work life. This course helps participants learn to identifying opportunities for change as well as the steps they need to take to implement those changes.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  *   identify characteristics of leadership
  * describe the characteristics of leadership they already possess
  * identify leadership opportunities in their workplace
  * identify supports and obstacles for a specific workplace change opportunity.
This course is not a course about managing others. If you want to learn more about being an effective manager, please consider enrolling in Essentials of Managing.
