Dear Postdocs,

We are surveying the MIT community of current and recent postdoctoral
scholars to gauge interest in the support for building a Black
Postdoctoral Group in the MIT Postdoctoral Association. The goal of this
initiative is to enhance the visibility of Black trainees and highlight
their accomplishments in the MIT ecosystem. *Please fill out the following
survey **here <https://forms.gle/Vq951ciaefLgDSXF9>.*

We hope this officially recognized community can achieve the following:

*(1)* Foster a safe forum for open discussion and community building using
campus resources.

*(2)* Facilitate the exchange of resources for academic and professional
development (i.e. workshops, fellowship information, and internship
opportunities).

*(3) *Longitudinally track the success of Black scholars from MIT.

*(4)* Improve Black faculty and industry recruitment through engagement
with the National Black Postdoc Society and local Biotech companies.

*(5)* Engage Black postdocs on MIT efforts to address racial equality on
campus.

*(6) *Inform Black postdocs how issues of race are addressed at MIT,
including the appropriate reporting channels and support services for Black
trainees.

Thank you,

Quinton Smith, PhD
