Dear Postdocs,
Please check out these programs offered next week by Career Advising and Professional Development, supported by the VPR office.

The Three Laws of Communication with Jean-luc Doumont
Tuesday, January 21 | 1:00pm - 3:00pm | 10-250
Useful as each of them can be, a large body of tips and tricks is impossible to remember, at least in a practical, usable way, unless it is structured into a balanced, meaningful hierarchy. This lecture offers and illustrates three simple yet solid ideas that lead to more effective communication and that underpin every other guideline: easy to remember, readily applicable, and always relevant-in short, valuable for the rest of your life. This CAPD event is open to MIT undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and alumni. Registration requested via Careerbridge<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001Xy8rul4lwRqgSuW0Eie1-Ju35jk0-Kd0SJ5rB8ylzj_NFUAxGeo2z-puiTxkkP6SO1P5S5UtCHtvyJo19HpQjsITmU4f2WbXcjrqGeqjEyPlEcjDu_AhErJ66X5CStDyXzNp0H0Wg9o7XjbPwKRRcTTZFoDXJVdXJ91vfv4-NM4DJG1Cx7p33fUvooH3rFdN1dOv3MdqrjU=&c=0wFeoolhLKb9CiVuT5onMnCreUZJeuvw5crlQlnaZAN1LeRecnSCwA==&ch=ISfgTKiDNb_i6IEA5H8DC2vAGgEVwEkPDxZNfu1Vxp1gX3fnS0---w==> (powered by Handshake).

CV Conversion to Resume
Wednesday, January 22 | 1:30pm - 3:00pm | E19-202
If you are considering exploring Industry positions, you will need to have a resume that effectively positions you for this path. This workshop will discuss the process of converting your 4-6 page Academic CV into a 2-page resume for industry, and creating a document that effectively targets the Hiring Manager. Can your resume survive a 15 second scan and still get into the YES pile? Discussions will surround the strategies of effective messaging and how to be "on-point" with your written communication. Actual MIT PhD/Postdoc resumes will be provided as handouts. This CAPD event is open to MIT undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and alumni. Registration requested via Careerbridge<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001Xy8rul4lwRqgSuW0Eie1-Ju35jk0-Kd0SJ5rB8ylzj_NFUAxGeo2z-puiTxkkP6SL_rty9kOuYKk_vSr6e7UEQ-MmBgK45NfV7ll-_y4IS6VN45o2pYoM4Yl_MO_gWBno2nMw_NddQ9sdvi3eKQ54EXQH6sYs86hCeCAvmkY6DiJrGDei34hLD0w26e9CioLV4rhz0odK0E=&c=0wFeoolhLKb9CiVuT5onMnCreUZJeuvw5crlQlnaZAN1LeRecnSCwA==&ch=ISfgTKiDNb_i6IEA5H8DC2vAGgEVwEkPDxZNfu1Vxp1gX3fnS0---w==> (powered by Handshake).
