Hi MIT Postdocs,
Because rest is as vital as exertion, I wanted to bring to your attention two of the next week's events:
Brain-break Sessions at MIT
The quality of our life depends on the quality of our mind. MIT Post-doctoral Association welcomes all Postdocs and their families to join Monday Brain-Break Sessions in 66-154, starting 2/10 at 4pm. This activity will continue for 12 weeks on every Monday (except for institute holidays 2/17 and 4/20, when we have it on Tuesdays 2/18 and 4/21). You are welcome to join any or all sessions. These sessions will be organized by a fellow postdoc, Pallavi, from LIDS department, who has been practicing and teaching meditation for the last five years. Come and give your mind a few minutes of peace and calm. This 40 minute session will be followed by snacks, so please RSVP your presence at: [tiny.cc/mitbb]tiny.cc/mitbb
For more information, please contact Pallavi Bharadwaj (bpallavi at mit.edu)<mailto:bpallavi at mit.edu>
Mindfulness for Engineers and Angst-Ridden Type-A Kindred Spirits
Mondays, 7:00 -8:30 PM | March 2-April 6, 2020
BitSight Technologies Offices | 111 Huntington Ave, Boston MA<https://goo.gl/maps/32tW6qxDUwxni12R8> | 20th Floor
Six-week free* in-person mindfulness course in downtown Boston in March-April. Offered by a Computer Science Ph.D. who works full-time as a Data Scientist in the Boston tech industry, this course is based on mindfulness practices the teacher has used over the past decade to get her perfectionism, workaholism, and all the other -isms down to healthy levels. The course takes a pragmatic, applied, non-touchy-feely approach to mindfulness and focuses extensively on academic and career stresses and work/life balance clarity.
