Hello fellow postdocs,

Want to make contribution to your community?
PDA’s IT/Information Flow Committee is recruiting volunteers to help us with our “global digital marketing”. We are recruiting a committee co-chair (a.k.a. Chief Digital Officer) and a committee member (a.k.a. Web Architect).

Duties...

You will help us to:
(one to three of the following tasks)


  *   maintain and monitor PDA's website<https://pda.mit.edu/>,
  *   maintain PDA event submission system,
  *   build websites for PDA's events,
  *   promote PDA events on digital platforms, i.e. on our websites and social media channels,
  *   manage PDA's social media accounts,
  *   maintain PDA's internal Google Drive and PDA Officers' mailing lists (WebMoira), and/or
  *   write manuals and procedures for the above tasks.

Requirements (or what you will learn)

Depending on what you will be working on, you will need to know (or willing to learn!):


  *   Common languages for web development:
     *   HTML (essential)
     *   CSS (essential)
     *   JavaScript (recommended)
     *   PHP (recommended)


  *   Basic knowledge about WordPress CMS, e.g.
     *   WordPress frontend interface
     *   common WordPress plugins
     *   plugin/theme customization


  *   Some basic concepts of WordPress architecture, e.g.
     *   directory and file structure
     *   template hierarchy


  *   Some basic concepts of web development, including:
     *   responsive web design
     *   user experience design
     *   website optimization, e.g. website performance, search engine optimization


  *   Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (or other vector graphics editors)


  *   Common knowledge about data security:
     *   -Follow MIT IST's Top Ten Safe Computing Tips<https://ist.mit.edu/security/tips>!
