Statement:

I am a new postdoc in the Laboratory Nuclear Science (LNS). I heard a lot about PDA in the orientation talk for new employees. I think this is a very nice organization and being so helpful for all postdocs by holding social and professional events. I would like to be involved, interact with talented postdocs in the community and helping out with all activities. I am interested in running for the treasurer position at MIT PDA.  The treasurer position is exciting to me because it is a critical role that helps ensure that the PDAs resources are deployed most efficiently. I think this is a great opportunity for me to be a part of PDA and contribute to the organization while I am working here.  I look forward to serving and meet every one of you in the future.

I am a first year Postdoctoral Associate Materials Systems Laboratory and MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub. I am using MIT’s drupal cloud https://ist.mit.edu/drupalcloud to develop a web site for my team’s project http://shine.mit.edu/ and I am also managing our project’s twitter account @SHINEatMIT<https://twitter.com/SHINEatMIT>. Kofi Annan once said. “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating.” There are lots of resources and events for MIT postdocs, but many of us are unaware of them. Different platforms can be used to disseminate information: websites, Twitter, Facebook, mailing list.  I am excited to learn more about different communication platforms and developing my communication skills. Thus, I want to serve as IT/Information Flow Committee Chair to support the MIT postdocs community with a timely information about events and resources which will help MIT postdocs in their personal and career success.
