Biopharma Trek for PhD students and postdocs
November 12 – 14, 2018
We are excited to offer you the possibility to join graduate students
and postdocs from the University of Chicago and Boston University on a
small, highly selective professional development trek! The Biopharma
Trek is an opportunity for you to understand how to apply your PhD
training in industry. Six trainees from MIT will be selected to
participate in site visits and networking opportunities at area biotech,
biopharma and healthcare related companies. Participants must commit to
attending all 2.5 days of this professional development trek (November
12-14). The tentative schedule includes visits to the following and

Doctoral students and postdocs should be within 1 year of completion of
their work. The trek involves visits to 7-8 companies with opportunities
to network. Applicants will be chosen based on the application materials
including:
1) A RESUME appropriate for the industry (resumes of selected
participants will be shared with the companies)
2) A PERSONAL STATEMENT (400 words or less) which includes a) your
career goals related to industry research, b) how the Trek may further
your career goals, and c) any industry research or collaborations.
3) A one-page COVER LETTER aimed at an open position at one of the
companies on the list. This cover letter will not be shared with the
companies, but will be used in the application evaluation.
