PDA and Strategic Games Society (SGS) Partnership

Thanks to an MIT-PDA partnership, MIT postdocs may join for free the weekly board games hosted by the MIT Strategic Games Society (MIT-SGS). Moreover, you can bring non-MIT friends for a small fee of $5 per year. SGS meets every Friday at 7PM in MIT Building 50-316 (Walker Memorial Hall, Floor 3, Room 16) for board games and card games. Get an introduction to R, the open-source system for statistical computation and graphics. With hands-on exercises, learn how to import and manage datasets, create R objects, install and load R packages, conduct basic statistical analyses, and create common graphical displays. Introduction to GIS and Mapping

Explore open access scholarship from MIT and beyond, including MIT dissertations and articles that are openly available. One source we’ll highlight is the MIT Libraries DSpace at MIT, which includes conference papers, images, peer-reviewed scholarly articles, preprints, technical reports, theses, working papers, research datasets and more. This collection of more than 90,000 high-quality works is recognized as among the world's premier scholarly repositories and receives, on average, more than 1 million downloads per month.
Staff from the Libraries who are experienced Wikipedians will provide a short introduction to MIT open access resources and an overview of editing Wikipedia. They will be available to answer questions throughout the session. Drop in any time during the session, and come with questions and ideas for topics! For those fluent in multiple languages, working in any language Wikipedia is welcome and encouraged. Computers will be available, but participants can also bring their own laptops. Once you click “submit,” the NPA will review your request and confirm your membership by email about a week later.
