Title: Major League Baseball Advanced Media Statcast Tech Talk at CSAIL 3/6
Abstract:
MLB Advanced Media’s Statcast system is a revolutionary tracking technology
that gathers and displays aspects of the game that were previously
immeasurable. In its first two years, the system has calculated nearly 54
million different metrics with data collected by high-resolution optical
cameras and radar equipment installed in all 30 Major League ballparks.
MLBAM will discuss how it is using Statcast data to contextually tell, and
visualize, baseball’s most interesting stories, engaging fans in a
multi-platform world.
Speaker Bios:
Greg Cain is Sr. Director, Sports Data for MLBAM. Greg is responsible for
data systems that capture, process, distribute and display sports data for
MLBAM built properties including: MLB, NHL, MLS, and League of Legends.
Greg was the point person for the development of the Statcast system
leading to its league wide launch in 2015. Greg’s group working on stats in
baseball was also featured in Vice Sports in 2015:
