MIT Day of Action with your networks, as appropriate.

There are a number of sessions that might be of particular interest to 
postdocs, including:

"The Challenge for R&D Funding in the Administration’s New FY18 Budget" 
by William B. Bonvillian, outgoing director of MIT’s Washington Office, 
which supports MIT’s historic role in science policy
"The Future of US Healthcare Policy" by Jonathan Gruber, Ford Professor 
of Economics at MIT
"Nuclear Weapons and Survival" by R. Scott Kemp, the Norman C. Rasmussen 
Associate Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT, and 
director of the MIT Laboratory for Nuclear Security and Policy

On Tuesday, April 18th, members of MIT and the broader local community 
will pause our everyday activities and devote the day to engaging with 
the political, economic, and social challenges facing us today. MIT 
intends this event to be open to all, representing the full diversity of 
our community, and we invite you to join us in a variety of sessions 
focused on self-awareness, knowledge, skills, and action.

*Overall Session Themes include:*

  * Doing Democracy
  * Science and Technology in Society
  * Activism
  * Racial Justice and Immigration
  * Think Globally, Act Locally
  * Healthcare, Housing, Jobs, Equity, Survival
  * Gender, Sexuality, & Reproductive Justice
  * Skill-Shares and Workshops
  * Art, Literature, and Community


This community-wide event will feature over 60 sessions and activities, 
designed to provide knowledge, tools, discussion forums, and pathways 
for civic engagement with the political, economic, and social challenges 
we face today. MIT April 18: Day of Engagement, Day of Action is a 
grassroots effort organized by members of the MIT community. The event 
is free and open to all, inviting respectful dialogue among individuals 
across all political, religious, class, cultural, and social groups and 
perspectives.

Session topics will cover a wide variety of subjects, including 
democracy, political corruption, immigration justice, gerrymandering, 
protest, nonviolent civil disobedience, environmental justice, refugees, 
free speech, gentrification, and more. See thelist of events
