Dear MIT Postdocs,

I hope you all enjoyed the spectacular MIT Moving Day! After all the tents will be gone in a day or two, live will go back to normal and the lawns can be occupied by all the sun worshipers.
With a forecast of sunny weather, we will give Outdoor Sports & Pizza another chance. Additionally, there are some amazing sailing opportunities at MIT (see below)! And if you want to stay inside but get a break from research, take a look at the upcoming seminars and workshops!

Wish you all a great week!

Best,
Kathrin

P.S. Watch out for the announcement of the next round of the MIT PDA Travel Grants!

How it works:
Sign up at www.ghamut.org<http://www.ghamut.org> by answering a few questions about your interests and schedule. Then, be your wonderful self and start making meaningful connections with your fellow postdocs.

Brown Bag: The Visual Component: More Than Pretty Pictures (hosted by the Program on Information Science) New
Join the Program on Information Science for our May Brown Bag with Felice Frankel, research scientist in the Center for Materials Science and Engineering<http://mit.edu/cmse/> here at MIT. She will discuss visual representation of all kinds as it becomes more important in our ever growing image-based society, especially in science and technology, and how there has been little emphasis on developing standards in creating or critiquing those representations.
Frankel will consider images as more than tangential components of information, discuss ways to seamlessly search for accurate and honest depictions of complex scientific phenomena, show her own process of making visual representations in sciences and engineering, and make the case that representations are just as "intellectual" as text.
