Dear Postdocs:
MIT concludes its celebration of 100 years in Cambridge on Saturday, May 7 with "Moving Day." The day will consist of three exciting events/activities — bring your family and friends!
For full details, visit: http://mit2016.mit.edu/movingday
I. Community Parade and Competition - 2 pm
Cross the Charles River from Boston to Cambridge, along with more than 30 teams competing for prizes based on criteria such as creativity, speed, and inclusiveness. The procession will travel over land and water, and showcase MIT's storied ingenuity with animatronics, robots, antique and concept cars, salsa dancers, and much more.
Oliver Smoot '62, who inspired the humorous measurement known as the "smoot," will lead the parade, and Ray Magliozzi, cohost of NPR's popular show, "Car Talk," will be a special guest.
II. Mind and Hand: A Pageant! - 8 pm
Celebrate MIT's history and look to the future with this playful extravaganza featuring lasers and pyrotechnics, multimedia soundscapes on the façade of Building 10, and the dance troupe Pilobolus’ fascinating blend of art and science.
This is expected to be the largest on-campus gathering of our community since 1916. You don't want to miss it!
III. Dance Parties - 9:30 pm
Enjoy live performances, refreshments, and frivolity at dance parties tracing 100 years of music and culture. Highlights include:
--Swing, big band, jazz, doo-wop, disco, 80s, high-tech/modern
--Photo booths, airbrush and flash tattoos, trivia
