Human Affairs Committee: Lunch Dates

Interested in making friends with other postdocs over lunch or coffee? Connect is a great way to make friends in the MIT postdoc community who share your interests and schedule. An MIT graduate student created this extremely popular program last year, and now postdocs can join.

How it works:
Sign up at www.ghamut.org<http://www.ghamut.org> by answering a few questions about your interests and schedule. You will be matched with other interested postdocs and given a set of times when you are both available to meet one-on-one. Then, be your wonderful self and start making meaningful connections with your fellow postdocs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postdoc Orientation Sessions:

The PDA offers Postdoc Orientation Sessions open to all postdocs at MIT. Topics covered include:
* Data on postdoc population at MIT

  *   MIT oversight of postdocs
  *   Defining postdoc expectations
  * Differences between fellows and associates
  *   PDA structure and initiatives
*       How to get involved
The sessions will be typically the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 12pm (45-60min) in E19-306. Lunch will be provided.
The dates for the next six months are as follows: May 2, May 16, June 6, June 20

MIT Moving Day
In the spring of 1916, to mark MIT's move across the Charles, an elaborate Venetian-style barge carried the Institute's charter from Boston to its new home in Cambridge. On Saturday, May 7, 2016, we will celebrate that historic crossing with Moving Day, an afternoon and evening of events that capture the wit, ingenuity and irreverent spirit of MIT.
Moving Day will unfold in three parts: in the afternoon, a festive "crossing" on the Mass. Ave bridge and on the river all around it; in the evening, a spectacular pageant on Killian Court; and afterward, dancing everywhere!

Crossing the Charles Parade and Competition, 2:00 PM
We invite you to gather starting at 1:00 PM around the Memorial Drive riverbank near Mass. Ave. and the bridge. No need to register to participate in the parade. Dress code: Fun!

Mind and Hand: A Pageant, 8:00 PM, on Killian Court (Seating opens at 7:45 PM, with a few appetizers for the senses before the Pageant kicks into high gear at 8:30.)
Please join us for this playful multimedia extravaganza that will bring the spirits of Mens and Manus to life.

Let's Dance, 9:30 PM
The day ends with a series of dance parties and games at five locations across campus, each one inspired by decades of music and culture.
