****Unique SUTD-MIT Graduate Fellowship Opportunity for MIT Postdocs *
*--includes full 12 months of financial support!*
MIT, in collaboration with the Singapore University of Technology and
Design (SUTD), is seeking to appoint an MIT postdoc to a 12-month fully
funded appointment for a postdoc who can be in residence in Singapore in
Spring 2017 and can assist in TA’ing/teaching in the following
undergraduate course at SUTD:
*_Modeling the System World_*—This one-semester course is divided into
two parts—Systems Modeling and System Optimization. Systems Modeling
introduces the basics of mathematical modelling. Students will also
learn how to solve differential equations (first order and second order)
and the Laplace Transform method. Systems Optimization introduces
students to mathematical tools for optimization, in particular convex
optimization, numerical solution algorithms, and networks. Candidates
with Mathematics or Applied Mathematics undergrad degrees are preferred.
Candidates should have good grades (A- or A) in Calculus, Linear
Algebra, and Differential Equations. A plus would be coursework in
optimization/operation research with good grades.

*
*Program Overview:*
* 6+ months at MIT conducting your current research with no strings
attached
* One full term at SUTD in Singapore where your time will be divided
between a teaching-related assignment (50%) and your current
research (50%). Generous travel allowances and flight to and from
Singapore are included.
Preference will be given to candidates who have taught a similar course
previously and who have considerable experience with the course content.
*_Funding is available for a full year. Funding runs from _**_June 1,
2016 - to May 31, 2017._*
Depending on the postdoc's research area, there are opportunities for
collaboration with SUTD faculty--as long as it is synergistic.
