The Nation's Most Premier Entrepreneurship Competition Kicks-Off!

The first of the MIT $100K's three contests over the course of the 
school year,
/Pitch/is a 90-second elevator pitch that sketches out your value 
creation and value capture propositions as compellingly as possible in a 
minute and a half.

You do not need to compete in /Pitch/ to qualify for the MIT $100K's 
more intensive winter and spring contests, but it is a fantastic way to 
meet co-founders and dive into your venture, including judges' feedback 
and non-dilutive award money.
The online preliminary submissions window (mit100k.org) will begin on 
Monday 9/21, and will close on Friday, 10/2.
The /Pitch/ finals, in front of a hundreds-strong live audience, will be 
10/28.

Update on Raptor Maps, 2015 $100K Launch Winner

2015 MIT $100K Grand Prize winner Raptor Maps, made up of graduate 
students Nikhil Vadhavkar, Forrest Meyen SM '13, and Eddie Obropta SM 
'13 have had a busy summer using its winnings to execute on its plan to 
efficiently feed a growing population.

Shortly after taking home the grand prize, the team went straight to the 
fields with operations financed by the MIT $100K to  engage with clients 
and provide them with value-added crop health analytics.

The expanding team has updated the drone to utilize composites, 
increased the payload capacity while doubling flight times, implemented 
stand count analytics using machine learning, and have optimized the 
data pipeline from drone to online customer portal using cloud 
computing. The team has also been working with state governments to help 
bring high technology jobs to rural areas and lay the ground work for 
future field operations. Raptor Maps made an appearance at the Farm 
Progress Show in Illinois and spoke at EmTech in Ecuador on the future 
of ag-tech.

Now, Raptor Maps is researching new crops and regions for servicing next 
growing season. By next summer the hardware will be ready for full 
operations and the software team will have the analytics engines and 
pipelines open for a wider range of data.

Emerald's device uses radio waves to detect, predict, and prevent falls 
among seniors. The device can detect breathing, heart rate, and changes 
in gait to predict a fall.
