Hello Fellow Postdocs,

Are you worried about funding for your lab or the lab you plan to run in the future? Do you and/or your PI seem to spend all of your time writing grants? Do you know talented scientists that have left science because of funding?

This is not surprising as science funding has dropped 30% in the last decade alone and is at a 40 yr low.

Please take a few minutes of your time to advocate for the future of science. Come light a candle for the ideas that haven't been worked on, the cures that haven't been found, the talented researchers that have left science, the hours lost writing grants instead of doing science.

When: Tonight, Thursday, September 17 6:30 pm
Where: Amphitheater outside of Stata building

We plan to send a picture of the event to congress along with a clear message about how the science funding crisis is affecting academics. It is a super critical time as we are in danger of entering another sequester this year.

If you have FB, please RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/673090636167954/.<https://www.facebook.com/events/673090636167954/> Feel free to forward this message to supporters of science.

Whether or not you can make the event, please take 30 seconds of your time this year to advocate for science- send an email to your representatives at http://save-science.org today. Your voice will be counted by congress, literally, and this could help prevent an NIH/NSF shutdown this fall.

Viva Science,

Christin
