Professional career development seminar* with Prof. Marcia Haggis
organized by the Postdoctoral Organization for Women Engaged in Research (POWER)

Date and Time: Thursday, November 5, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm
Location: E25-401 (http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=E25)

Snacks and refreshments (Whole Foods catering) will be served!
Please sign up if you plan to attend:http://goo.gl/forms/ix85ye6pPT

Join us for a career development seminar with Prof. Marcia Haigis, a former MIT Postdoc in the Department of Biology!

POWER's professional career development seminars focus on the speaker's personal experiences, insights into their current work, as well as work-life integration issues such as how to balance a successful career in science and technology and raise a family.
Dr. Haigis will discuss what she feels has contributed to her success, the challenges she has had to overcome, and advice for current Postdocs planning their career paths. She will also talk about maintaining a balanced life (e.g. raising a family), in light of the rigors of an academic career.
We are hoping that the interactions will assist female postdocs in navigating their careers and will also help them building the professional connections to move on to the next level in their career.

POWER Movie Night
Movie: Disney' Mulan
Date and Time: Friday, November 20, 7pm
Location: E17-517

Are you curious about other people's research at MIT? The MIT Postdoctoral Association (PDA) is proud to present GLIMPSE podcast. GLIMPSE is a series of one-on-one interviews with postdocs across MIT campus. Next time you are running a long mundane experiment, throw on some headphones and meet your peers! Get a glimpse into their journey, research, and outlook.

Our first guest is Frank Leibfarth, a chemist who wants to make custom polymer synthesis accessible to scientists across all fields! If you would like to be interviewed by GLIMPSE podcast or would like to help with the podcast (music, logo, artwork), please contact us at glimpse.podcast at gmail.com<mailto:glimpse.podcast at gmail.com>.
