Topics in Cancer Research
Are you a postdoc? Do you want to improve your communication/teaching
skills at Harvard Medical School? Do you have recognized experience on
cancer genetics, cancer metabolism or cancer immunology?
We are seeking three postdoctoral fellows to serve as discussion leaders
for the Fall graduate student course "Current Topics in Cancer Research",
tentatively scheduled to take place on Thursdays from 9-10:30am, September
24th - November 12th, 2015.
Postdoctoral discussion leaders are responsible for leading one session in
their area of expertise. For each course session, discussion leaders select
one recent, high profile paper and one or more supporting reviews to be
discussed in a round-table format. Course sessions consist of a short
lecture by the discussion leader to review background information, followed
by presentation of the paper and moderation of graduate student discussion
of the selected paper. The discussion will be focused on the impact of
their discoveries in the field, and deep review of the techniques used on
the paper and techniques available on the field..
We are seeking discussion leaders in the following areas of expertise:
1. "Genome Instability and Mutations" (tentative date:October 1st 2015)
2. "Metabolism and Cancer"(tentative date:October 8th 2015)
3. "Avoiding Immune Destruction" (tentative date:November 5th 2015)
Selection of discussion leaders will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Fellows must obtain permission from their PI to participate, and
instructional participation must not be in conflict with the fellow's visa
status or funding mechanism % effort stipulations.
