MIT3- Academic funding video survey

Hello Postdocs,

I am a postdoc in the Biology department. I am also leading an MIT Think Tank (MIT3) project, which is working on a project about the current academic funding crisis. We are trying to give academics a bigger voice and raise awareness of the problem in order to hopefully impact policy during this critical juncture. One way we are doing this is to create a short video clip (5-10 minutes) of people talking about their experiences with funding, grant writing, and problems related to it. If you have a story to tell about your experience please consider doing a short 5 minute interview with us. Here are the questions that we would ask you:

1. introduce yourself- title, institute etc
2. in layman's terms what are you hoping will be the impact of your research?
3. what do you think about current US academic funding levels?
4. how has the funding climate personally impacted you or people you know- in terms of time, research that could be done etc.

We will email the final video to you for your approval and will only have you in the final product if you are comfortable. Also, if you know anyone else in the community (students, professors, MIT and other Universities) that may be interested in being video taped please pass this email along.
