Dear Postdocs,
We are writing to invite you to apply to be a postdoc representative on
MIT's Council on Family and Work
(http://committees.mit.edu/family-and-work-council), which serves in an
advisory and deliberative capacity concerning family and work-related
issues as they impact MIT's faculty, staff, and students.
It is the Council's responsibility to:
1) Identify family and work-related issues,
2) Establish a process to evaluate and respond to these issues, and
3) Make periodic recommendations to MIT's senior officers about courses
of action relevant to these specific issues.
The primary time commitment involves several meetings per year and
periodic special projects.
This is one of the Institute committees that is appointed by the MIT
president, and among those that has a postdoc representative. It is a
special opportunity to ensure that the postdoc voice is heard in the
larger MIT community. It is also a great way to meet diverse faculty and
staff across the Institute, all whom are extremely motivated to make MIT
a better place to work. Dr. Sara Gosline, the current postdoc
representative, has greatly enjoyed doing this, and her term concludes
this month. Please feel free to contact her with any questions at:
sgosline at mit.edu <mailto:sgosline at mit.edu>.
