*From Charles E. McClinton, Ph.D., *Interim Assistant Dean, Office of
Minority Education:
I have the responsibility of assisting students to locate tutors and/or
facilitators to provide tutorial assistance to students for specific
courses, primarily in the STEM courses: Organic Chemistry, Biology,
Physics, Mathematics, etc. We are looking for tutors and/or facilitators
who are either juniors, seniors, doctoral students, or postdocs. Below
please find a brief description of the roles that we currently need to
fill:
*Seminar XL:* an opportunity to continue or to develop teaching skills
while creating a safe learning environment for first year undergraduate
students (no more than six students in a group). Seminar XL
<http://ome.mit.edu/programs-services/seminar-xlle> is a structured
study group program. You will be expected to attend trainings and
monthly check-ins that will provide you with support for this important
role. The commitment to Seminar XL includes: two 90-minute weekly
sessions (scheduled at times convenient to you and the students), one
hour course material preparation and submitting timely student
evaluations. Salary is negotiable, but $20 minimum per hour.
*Tutorial Services Room (TSR):* an opportunity to work one-on-one or
with a group of two students providing personalized academic support.
You will be expected to attend trainings and monthly check-ins that will
provide you with support for this important role. The commitment to TSR
includes: two to six hours per week of service. Salary is negotiable,
but $20 minimum per hour. (See more information about TSR
