Forwarded Message from Rebecca Fearing:
Dear Postdocs,
This year, an incredible group of your colleagues has played an
instrumental role in helping MIT in an online educational collaboration
with the Khan Academy. We are looking for post-docs to mentor MIT
student video making teams to ensure high quality, accurate content in
their videos, and are hosting lunch this Thursday at 12:00 in 1-214 for
you to learn more. Please RSVP by Thursday at 8:00am using this link:
http://tinyurl.com/85sv2ue. Also, if you are interested in
volunteering, please tell us a little bit about yourself using this
link: http://tinyurl.com/SoE-PostDocMentors.
MIT graduate and undergraduate students are making hands-on,
experimental videos to help inspire and educate K-12 students in
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields before they
attend college. Their videos have already received over 85,000 views on
our You Tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/mitK12Videos. To learn
more about the project, please visit our website: http://k12videos.mit.edu/.
This week, we are accepting teams of students to make videos due in late
June. We will require the teams to have a meeting with a postdoc before
they film in the hopes of getting the technical content right the first
time. At lunch on Thursday, we can discuss what is entailed in this
process.
We are thankful for the engagement of the post doctoral community in
these efforts and look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
Sincerely,
Becky
