*Singapore NRF Fellowship*
The Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship Scheme is a
globally competitive program to attract, recruit and root young
scientists and researchers to conduct independent research in Singapore.
Together with other NRF initiatives such as the Competitive Research
Programme (CRP) Funding Scheme
<http://www.nrf.gov.sg/NRF/otherProgrammes.aspx?id=168>, Research
Centres of Excellence (RCEs)
<http://www.nrf.gov.sg/NRF/otherProgrammes.aspx?id=144> and Campus for
Research Excellence And Technological Enterprise (CREATE)
<http://www.nrf.gov.sg/NRF/otherProgrammes.aspx?id=188>, the NRF
Fellowship <http://www.nrf.gov.sg/nrf/otherProgrammes.aspx?id=2440>
scheme is a key initiative to develop and nurture R&D talent and build
R&D capacity in Singapore.

*Key Features of the NRF Fellowship*
The Singapore NRF Fellowship is open to all areas of science and
technology. Outstanding young scientists and researchers of all
nationalities are welcomed to apply.
Singapore NRF Fellows will be given complete independence and freedom to
pursue their own research directions. They will also be free to choose
the host organization which will give them the best environment, in
terms of access to relevant equipment and facilities and in building up
the team for their research.
Each Fellow will be provided with a research grant of up to S$3 million
over five years, to support projects that exhibit high likelihood of a
research breakthrough. This grant excludes the salary of the
NRF Fellow, and will adequately support a research team comprising at
least 1 post-doctoral fellow and 2 PhD students, costs of incremental
research facilities, consumables and travel for conferences and meetings.
The salary of the NRF Fellow will be covered over and above the research
grant awarded, and will be pegged to that of an Assistant Professor at a
local university.
**
*Identification and Selection Processes*
NRF will invite applications to its Fellowship once a year through open
advertisements in prestigious scientific publications, as well as tap on
local research organisations and other contacts to identify potential
candidates.
A two-step selection process, comprising a shortlisting process and a
final selection will evaluate and award the Fellowships. A Review Panel
comprising representations of local research organisations will
shortlist applicants who qualify. Shortlisted candidates will be invited
to Singapore to present their proposals and visit local research
organisations to identify potential collaborators and host-research entity.
Thereafter, the NRF Fellowship Evaluation Panel
<http://www.nrf.gov.sg/nrf/otherProgrammes.aspx?id=2464> will interview
the shortlisted candidates and make the final recommendation for the
awards. The number of fellowships awarded per year is determined solely
by the quality of the applicants and their research. There is no
pre-determined quota for the awards for any year.

*Detailed Guidelines*
Interested applicants should refer to the detailed NRF RF Guidelines on
NRF's Research, Innovation and Technology Administration system (RITA)
Applications must be submitted online atrita.nrf.gov.sg

*Virtual Engineering Career Fair*
Good Afternoon:
On April 19^th , we are hosting a nationwide virtual career fair for
engineers, and I am emailing today to ask you all to help us in
spreading the word amongst your respective students and alumni. If you
are receiving this email, you are one of only 30 schools who we are
inviting to participate, and we have a great lineup of employers ready
and eager to meet with your students/alumni. Employers such as Amazon,
Facebook, Google, Boeing, Honda, Texas Instruments, Intuit, TRW, Math
Works, and more will have a virtual booth.
This event will be unlike any other "virtual" career fair you may have
participated in before. Each employer has a fully customized booth with
live chat, links to their website, career page, social media
integration, and more. Students will be able to; build a profile, visit
employer booths, view/apply for jobs all over the country, and chat with
peers in the networking lounge. This is a free service, and they can
simply register at www.engcareerfair.com <http://www.engcareerfair.com>
We will also be giving away an IPad3 to one lucky attendee
Now for the career services side, we will also be giving away an IPad3
to the career services department who has the most registered for the
April 19^th event. If you wish to be included, please send a reply
email, and we will be sure to include your school name in the press
release for the event, and we will also know to track registrants for
your school. You must reply to my email to be entered for the IPad3 drawing.
Space is limited to only 1500 students so be sure to send out today if
you feel your students would benefit from attending.
Thanks
