  NOTICE FOR MIT POSTDOCS - NRF Singapore: Call for applications for 
International Meeting January 2013

    The Office of the Vice President of Research would like to notify
    you of the following international opportunity.  (A separate
    notification is going out to graduate students through the Office of
    Dean for Graduate Education.)

    MIT has been asked to identify a total of five participants made up
    of graduate students and postdocs to attend the National Research
    Foundation (NRF) of Singapore International Summit:
    *"Global Young Scientists Summit @ One-North:* *An International
    Meeting of Bright Young Researchers, Nobel Laureates and Eminent
    Scientific Leaders"*
    *January 20 – 25, 2013, in Singapore.

    *The summit will be multi-disciplinary, covering the basic sciences
    of chemistry, physics, medicine, mathematics, computer science, and
    engineering, with a focus on use-inspired research to address major
    global challenges.
    NRF will cover local expenses ONLY. *Participants or their research
    advisors are responsible for airfare.*  The Office of the Vice
    President for Research will provide coach class round trip airfare
    for the top postdoctoral applicant.

    The nomination process is being coordinated by the Office of the
    Vice President for Research (for postdocs) and the Office of the
    Dean for Graduate Education (for graduate students). The 5 MIT
    finalists will be selected by the Vice President for Research and
    Dean for Graduate Education in consultation with the Deans of
    Science and Engineering.

    *Postdoc Eligibility*:
    · Full time Postdoctoral Associates or Postdoctoral Fellows under
    the age of 35.
    · Demonstration of passion and interest in research
    · Strong organizational support, preferably recommendation letter
    from academic advisor or supervisor
    · Possession of good English skills for active discussion and
    engagement with peers and speakers, demonstrated strong academic
    achievement in area of research, assessed within the top 5-10
    percent of cohort

    *MIT Postdoc Application Procedure:*
    Interested postdocs should submit the following materials to Debra
    Martin, debra at MIT.EDU, by *May 7 at 5:00 pm***
    · Cover letter as to why this opportunity would benefit their
    postdoctoral education
    · CV
    · Half-page research summary
    · Letter of recommendation and support from faculty advisor
    .     Source of funding for air fare.

         MIT’s finalists will be required to complete NRF’s online 
application by July 31, 2012.
