For MIT Postdocs, forwarded from Rebecca Fearing, MIT School of
Engineering, who met recently with officers of the MIT Postdoctoral
Association:
***
Thanks for letting me join your meeting last week to talk about our K-12
outreach plan. I am very excited to share an opportunity with your
post-doc community to attend a special event featuring speaker Salman
Khan -- the founder and faculty of www.khanacademy.org
<http://www.khanacademy.org/>. This unique event will take place
Thursday November 17th at 7 pm in 32-123 (Kirsch auditorium).
With three MIT degrees behind him (Course VI and XVII SBs and a Course
VI MNG), Khan is hoping to re-invent and pioneer new models of education
deliver and learning among K-12 students. Using very simple production
techniques -- table drawings with informal (yet highly informed)
narrations -- Khan has has created 2,800 5 to 15 minute lectures that
have drawn more than 90 million views on Khans Academy's You Tube channel.
Khan's lecture - Rethinking Learning-- is open to members of the MIT
community only and sponsored by the School of Engineering and The
Founders Journey (6.s976). We hope some members of the post-doc
community will take the opportunity to attend this talk!
Sincerely,
Becky
