The Associate Provost and Vice President for Research and the Deans of 
the Schools of Science and Engineering invite you to participate in:
*MIT Postdoctoral Ventures: A Symposium of Careers in Entrepreneurship*
Wednesday, January 18^th  from 3-7:00 pm at the MIT Faculty Club

If you are considering working in a startup, have a novel idea you would 
like to develop via a for-profit or non-profit company, or want to learn 
more about entrepreneurship as an academic, then this seminar is for 
you. Panel speakers will consist of serial academic entrepreneurs, 
startup CEOs, founders, science/engineering chiefs, and many others who 
made the jump from academia to industry.
Confirmed guests include MIT Institute Professors *Robert Langer* and 
*Phil Sharp*, iRobot co-founder *Helen Greiner*, and Ironwood 
Pharmaceuticals CEO & co-founder *Peter Hecht*. The following topics 
will be discussed:
1) Successful careers in startups
- Debunking startup myths
- From MIT to life in a small company
- A look in the mirror: What does it take to thrive in a startup?
2) Founding companies as an academic entrepreneur
3) How to find a promising startup and land a job
This seminar will be presented by *Polaris Ventures*, in collaboration 
with the MIT Postdoctoral Association.
