FYI,
**Second Annual Young Investigator Meeting (YIM) Boston**
www.yimboston.org <http://www.yimboston.org>
(Special call for candidates from engineering and all branches of physcial
sciences)
Applications are invited from fresh PhDs, MDs, postdocs (at all levels)
and junior faculty, keen on pursuing scientific careers in India, to
attend the Second Annual Young Investigator Meet (YIM) Boston being held
from Oct 8-10, 2010 at the Broad Institute at MIT and Harvard, Cambridge
MA.
'YIM Boston 2010' meet is an interactive platform for global scientists to
learn about India's radically changing innovation system and growing need
for dynamic leaders. It's an unique opportunity to interface with an elite
panel of leaders from Indian science, policy makers, funding agencies and
directors of major national institutes. Through a series of structured
talks and discussion forums, 'YIM Boston 2010' meet will emphasize
addressing prospects, growth, mentorship, challenges, resources and
collaborations within the new/emerging academic scene in India. To this
end, 30 potential faculty candidates will be shortlisted based on their
research achievements and vision statements to present their work and
interact with future faculty screening committee members.
'YIM Boston 2009,' held last year, was an experimental event that
attracted over 200 applicants of which 43 outstanding candidates were
chosen to attend a two day closed session. A year later, results confirm
that the experiment has worked! Several 'YIM Boston 2009' shortlisted
candidates have either relocated to India or are in process of doing so to
start their independent scientific careers.
Details of the meeting are as follows:
