The American Academy of Arts and Sciences is now inviting
applications for its Visiting Scholars Program for the 2010-2011
academic year. The program serves untenured junior faculty and
postdoctoral students interested in pursuing research related to one
of the Academy's four core program areas: Humanities and Culture,
Social Policy and American Institutions, Science and Global Security,
and Education.

Through this program, the Academy offers scholars a year for research
and writing free from teaching and administrative duties, a
collaborative work environment, and the opportunity to interact with
the Academy membership, including leaders from every field and
discipline. Scholars also have access to local library and archival
resources, and opportunities to engage in seminars at neighboring
institutions. A stipend of up to $60,000 for junior faculty and up to
$40,000 for postdoctoral scholars accompanies the award.

The program website includes a copy of the guidelines for the
2010-2011 fellowship year and application materials
(<http://www.amacad.org/visiting.aspx>www.amacad.org/visiting.aspx).
We look forward to receiving applications from your postdocs and
junior faculty.

The deadline for applications is October 16, 2009. If you have
questions about these fellowships, please contact John Tessitore,
Administrative Director of the Visiting Scholars Program at
617-576-5002 or
