Postdoctoral positions are available in the KarpLab at HST (www.karplab.net).

We are seeking applicants with a strong background in cell biology or
biochemistry to fill postdoctoral positions at Harvard Medical School
through the Department of Medicine at the Brigham and Women's
Hospital in Boston and through the Harvard-MIT division of Health
Sciences and Technology. We are focused on improving our
understanding of the mechanisms of tissue remodeling and regeneration
through using adult mesenchymal stem cells. We aim to translate all
technology that we develop to the clinic to improve the quality of
life of suffering patients. Recently we created devices to capture
stem cells and cancer cells in the circulation based on cell rolling
(Langmuir, 2007, Nov 20;23(24):12261-12268) and we are near
submission of a publication describing the development of
gecko-inspired medical adhesives. We were the first to demonstrate
that human embryonic stem cells can be completely differentiated down
the osteogenic lineage to produce the early hallmarks of de novo bone
formation and described a new technique for amplifying differentiated
cell types (STEM CELLS, 2005, Apr;24(4):835-43). We have also created
new systems for studying migration of progenitor cells in vitro
(Bone. 2005 Sep;37(3):337-48) and have developed animal models for
studying tissue regeneration in vivo (J Craniofac Surg, 2003
May;14(3):317-23). Successful candidates must be HIGHLY MOTIVATED
with good people skills and a strong background in protein arrays and
biochemical analysis. A strong publication record and the ability to
work independently within a fast paced environment is essential. We
are dedicated to the development of next generation BioEngineers to
work at the forefront of Regenerative Medicine. If interested please
supply curriculum vitae and names of three references to
