The Center for Work, Family and Personal Life is pleased to announce
our upcoming seminar entitled Advocating for Children with Special
Needs, led by Donna Murphy, Special Education Advocate, Federation
for Children with Special Needs.

This seminar will provide an introduction to the rights and
responsibilities of parents and guardians under the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, the No Child Left Behind legislation, and
Massachusetts Special Education Law. Created by the Federation for
Children with Special Needs and the Department of Education, this
workshop is designed to help parents and families learn how to be
effective partners with their child's school, to decide the child's
eligibility for special education, to plan and make decisions, and to
monitor their child's educational progress.

This seminar will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, from 12:00 noon
to 1:30 PM in the Center conference room, Room 16-151. The seminar is
open to all members of the MIT community, free of charge.
