Limited space still available for next week's event....

Greetings, MIT Postdocs!

Would you like to meet more faculty? Would a periodic one-on-one
discussion with a faculty member help you with career guidance and
goal setting? Mentoring programs throughout academia and industry
are a means of helping junior talent along their career path, and now
MIT has developed a pilot mentoring program just for postdocs!

The Postdoc Pilot Mentoring Program has been developed by the
Postdoctoral Advisory Council and supported by Dr. Alice Gast, MIT's
Vice President for Research. The goal is to facilitate discussions
about careers and goal setting and to provide a setting for
discussions about career choices and progression through the
postdoctoral tenure with a faculty member in addition to the
mentoring received from one's primary faculty advisor. For the
pilot, faculty members from the following MIT Departments have
volunteered to serve as mentors to postdocs outside of their research
group:

Biology, Center for Cancer Research, Chemistry, Materials Science,
Biological Engineering, Physics, Civil and Environmental Engineering,
Chemical Engineering

If this sounds interesting to you, please respond to this email and
accept the following invitation:

Please join Dr. Alice Gast, MIT's VP for Research,
faculty mentors and the Postdoctoral Advisory Council
for a wine and cheese reception to kick-off the

More details on the process will be provided, but for now, you should
consider the kick-off event as an invitation to meet interesting
faculty who will be available for conversation and possibly a
longer-term mentoring relationship.

Thank you,

Kirsten Edepli, Anna Schulze Lutum, and Hauke Kolster, Postdoc Advisory Council
Janet Fischer and Marilyn Smith, Administrative Staff to Postdocs
