Dear MIT-Habitat at mit,
I am writing to you on behalf of TBP. We have organized a build with the North Shore Habitat for Humanity for this Saturday, September 6th. Due to a delay in confirming the event, I started the PR way to late. If anyone is up for volunteering with us this weekend, we would sure love the help! Preference is for grad students, as we are being funded by the GSC (PSC/GSC Service Fund), but I would be remiss if I left spots go to waste. We are desperately in need for drivers, as we have money for a rental, but no one going, as of yet, with a license. Please get back to me if you would like to volunteer with us this Saturday, or just fill out this form!<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1t-7P6AAWIZtjDwmNzXMCekmc1ey4H76ckt4t6ckScWY/>
Thanks for your attention!
Sincerely,
Jay Sircar

Tau Beta Pi is the engineering honor society and represents a group of students who display "distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering." Most undergraduate chapters require a service contribution as part of initiation. MIT being MIT, it comes as no surprise that a large portion of the graduate population are TBP members, initiated back at their undergraduate institutions or equally high achieving students with interest in giving back to the community. In a call to address the critical lack of community service brought to our attention by the Public Service Center, the Mass Beta Chapter here at MIT invites all graduates to our first annual Tau Beta Pi Graduate Public Service Event this Saturday, September 6th, 2014.
This event has been funded by the Graduate Student Council/Public Service Center- Service Fund. Priority for all the positions will be for graduate students. Spots will be first come first serve, with the exception of volunteers with vehicular transport willing to help with transportation of the group (gas will be reimbursed). Non-graduate students and guests will be notified by Thursday if there is a spot for them.
Sincerely,
Jay Sircar

PS- Here is a picture from the same build back in June, when the Graduate Association of Mechanical Engineers had a similar volunteer event (also funded by the GSC/PSC fund).
