About Bike and Build:
*What are you doing this summer?*
If you want to travel, be active outdoors, meet new people, build homes,
and help raise awareness about the affordable housing problem, you
should spend your summer with Bike & Build. Bike & Build events are
cross-country cycling tours which raise funds for affordable housing
groups and help educate and involve communities in affordable housing
efforts across the nation. We're organizing seven tours this summer
including one from Boston, and we're looking for young adults like you who
want to be active, make a difference, and have the best summer of their lives.
We also have trip leadership positions available.
*Choose from seven different routes:*
-Boston to Santa Barbara (Boston, MA on 6/11 - Santa Barbara, CA on 8/15)
-Central U.S. (Virginia Beach, VA on 5/17 - Cannon Beach, OR on 7/25)
-Northern U.S. (Portsmouth, NH on June 18 - Vancouver, BC on August 24)
-Providence to Seattle (Providence, RI on 6/4 - Seattle, WA on 8/11)
-Providence to San Francisco (Providence, RI on 5/31 - San Fran, CA on 8/11)
-Southern U.S. (Jacksonville, FL on 6/12 - San Francisco, CA on 8/16)
-North Carolina to San Diego (Manteo, NC on 5/25 - San Diego, CA on 7/27)
Each of our trips offers a beautiful route, visits national parks and
other attractions, and has several dedicated Build Days, where you'll
spend the day building a home with local affordable housing groups. The
Southern trip spends a week rebuilding homes in sections of Louisiana
destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Check out our entire route network and
see which tour appeals to you.
*What are the trips like?*
Check out our online photos and FAQ for more info on what to expect.
Also, read through past journal entries to get a feel for life on the
road. I was on the Southern Route last year and we went through the Gulf
Coast and the Southwest along with a lot of other really cool places. For
more information email info at bikeandbuild.org or Kyle Magida at
