So I have been invited to join the RIT Arnold Air Society on a Habitat for
Humanity build this summer, from August 23-28.
I can bring up to 5 people with me, and I thought I would open the
opportunity up to you. Let me know by FRIDAY if you're interested.
The details are below.
The build will be in Exmore, VA. The area is apparently very poor, with
much poverty housing.
The trip will cost $115 per person, which covers a place to stay (church),
2 meals, registration, and building materials
We will *also* have to cover transportation and food. Depending on the
amount of interest, we may be able to work out transportation with the RIT
group, but in any case, you *will* spend a few hundred dollars on this.
Since this trip has so few openings, we will not be funded by MIT Habitat.
At the same time, the cost of this trip is still a lot less than many of
the Global Village trips organized by Habitat International.
Also, for the outdoorsy types: "Beautiful rural location - on Delaware
Peninsula - between Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Much poverty housing
in 2 of VA's poorest counties. 60 mi S of Salisbury, MD -
Chincoteague/Assateague beach & wildlife refuge, outdoor recreation"
Let me know by FRIDAY if you are interested.
