Hello everyone,

I hope you're all having a great Spring Break!

For those who applied for Spring II, thank you for applying! In an effort to
help your group better understand the Finboard funding process, we
have written a few guidelines based on the most common mistakes on
applications:

1) Please defend *each* line item.
2) For capital items, please provide an explanation of why you need it
and *where
you plan on storing it*.
3) Please explain your accounts: negative account balances, unspent funds
from the current/recent cycles, high main account balances, etc.
4) For high cost items, please explain why you can't go with a lower cost
option.
5) Please break down the costs for events in your defense
6) Include *all* incomes and expenditures, not just Finboard funded items.
It's ok to not break them down but they need to be included.
7) Remember groups get free publicity resources (*The Tech* ads, Infinite
Display). If you request these, please explain why you need more.

We hope that this clarifies some Finboard policies. We are always trying to
improve, so please forward your suggestions and questions.

------------------------------------------------

Appeals:

You must appeal in person before Finboard.

Appeals will be on Thursday 6:00PM - 11:00PM in W20-401 (4th floor of the
Student Center).
Please email finboard at mit.edu to request a 5 minute slot.

>From our bylaws:
"Appeals shall be heard at this meeting with the group having no more than
five minutes to explain their request and answer questions from Finboard,
unless a majority vote of Finboard extends this time limit."

Appeals are not an opportunity to request new funding on a whim.

"These appeals shall serve to cover unforeseen costs and circumstances and
otherwise support groups when lack of funding would be *severely* detrimental
to their ability to operate."

Have a wonderful semester,
MIT Finboard
