Hope some of you guys can come to this workshop on Thursday! Looks very
relevant to Habitat, in terms of developing plans for long-term
sustainability of the club, beyond one-time events.

Dear student service group leaders,
Happy spring break! I am delighted to invite you and a few of your fellow
group members to attend a special service training on sustainability, which
the Public Service Center has organized in order to help student groups make
the jump from energetic new projects to long-term successes. The event will
feature panelists from MIT Resource Development, the Student Activities
Office, and representatives from some successful student groups.
Sustainability topics will include: moving from year-to-year fundraising to
long-term financial sustainability, developing leadership with your ranks
for strong succession, documenting how your group gets things done,
recruiting and retaining a strong membership, and other tools to increase
your group’s success and longevity. Student service groups who have been
running successful programming and are ready to take their group to the next
level of operation are highly encouraged to attend this event.
We are asking students to help us make this event as useful as possible.
Panelists will answer questions generated by YOU and lead breakout sessions
designed to help you develop strategies for long-term success. Additionally,
we’ll provide a family-style dinner and dessert so that you can concentrate
on your group’s future instead of your growling stomach.
