Hey guys,

I just wanted to take a second and encourage all of you to apply to
Leadershape! I participated in it last year, and it really changed my
perspective on what we as MIT students, as young adults, as people can
achieve. Before, I would get stuck on the "I wish I could do this, but"
mentality; Leadershape made me realize that I was the one putting limits on
myself. With enough passion, determination, and careful goal-setting,
anything is possible! Look at us - Habitat exec, a rather small group of
very busy students, just planned and implemented a very successful 5K that
raised enough money to build a house for a family in need. The runners and
volunteers had a great time; perhaps we inspired some people to volunteer
with Habitat or start running regularly; but most importantly, a family in
Kenya will have a shelter because of our efforts.

Leadershape is a week-long, all expenses paid program during IAP that is run
by the Student Activities Office. You can find more info about Leadershape
and how to apply at http://web.mit.edu/leadershape. Applications are due
Nov 2. Let me know if you want to find out more about Leadershape, or have
any questions - there is also a booth in Lobby 10 this week and next week,
manned by past Leadershape participants.

Good luck with classes this week! I'll send out an email shortly with the
weekly meeting time.

-Grace :)
